Detailed Itinerary & Facts
STOP 1.
SANTA CLARA MARKET – THE FLAVORS OF LOCAL LIFE
Your culinary adventure begins at Santa Clara, one of Quito’s most traditional markets. Locals come here daily for their produce, healing herbs, and ready-to-eat meals. What you’ll experience: A fresh seasonal juice to start your day with tropical flavor. A warm empanada de viento, a golden cheese-filled pastry loved across Ecuador. A guided introduction to iconic Ecuadorian dishes like caldo de pata (cow foot soup), hornado (roast pork), and guatita (beef tripe stew). This market is more than food—it’s the heartbeat of daily life in Quito.
STOP 2.
TRADITIONAL CEVICHOCHOS - CAROLINA PARK
Experience Quito like a true local at La Carolina Park, the city's pulsing heart. Here, we’ll visit a traditional stall to try Cevichochos, the ultimate Andean "power snack." This dish is a masterclass in Ecuadorian texture and biodiversity: a base of nutritious chochos (lupini beans) mixed with lime-marinated onions and tomatoes, topped with crispy chifles (plantain chips), toasted corn, and a touch of savory sauce. It’s fresh, protein-rich, and represents the authentic everyday street food culture of the capital.
STOP 3.
CAFÉ MOSAICO (PANORAMIC TASTING)
Perched on the edge of the Itchimbía hill, Café Mosaico offers one of the most spectacular panoramic views of Quito’s illuminated Historic Center. In this cozy, high-altitude setting, you’ll enjoy a curated Mix of Traditional Empanadas—ranging from the delicate viento (flour) to the hearty verde (green plantain). To accompany these flavors, you’ll sip on a warm Canelazo, a classic Andean spiced drink made with cinnamon and fruit juices, perfect for the cool Quito evenings. It’s the perfect blend of local gastronomy and breathtaking scenery.
STOP 4.
NAVARRO PARK – STREET FOOD LEGEND
Known affectionately as Parque de las Tripas (“Tripe Park”), Navarro Park comes alive at night with sizzling aromas and the chatter of locals. What to expect: A stroll through open-air food stalls serving up some of Quito’s most iconic street dishes. A tasting of the famous tripa mishqui – grilled beef intestines marinated and cooked to perfection. Optional samplings of other snacks like llapingachos (potato patties), empanadas, and more. This final stop captures the essence of Quito’s street food scene: bold, flavorful, and full of life.
